Update from the
Murray River
Cy and I have arrived at the Mouth of the River Murray!
We have conquered Murray Bridge, Tailem Bend, Wellington, before embarking on our final leg to Goolwa, Sugars Beach - Murray Mouth!
An emotional reunion with my family & Beverley, and a fantastic welcome from Goolwa Rowing Club & the Inland Rivers National Marathon Register as we arrived at the Murray Mouth.
No more soon, we have arrived! Thank you all for your incredible support & following!
The End!

22–31 March: A Pause for Rest and Family Before the Big Push
It’s amazing how quickly those long‑anticipated comforts, the ones that felt like a stairway to heaven, become normal again. Within a few days, Cy and I were already restless and itching to continue our journey. But we needed to put some weight back on, swap our hiking gear for boating gear, and give our bodies a proper rest. Day 22: Arriving at Hume Dam
22nd March! We woke early to a beautiful view over Lake Hume, its still water scattered with dead trees. We left camp at 8:30am, but almost immediately had to stop—Cy had a massive blister that had popped, taking the skin with it and leaving a damp, painful pocket inside his shoe. Out came the first aid kit. I cleaned and dressed his foot, padding it well enough to ease the pressure. Our goal for the day was Hume Dam, a 25 km hike. It wasn’t as hot, and mentally we were both

Day 21: Koetong Creek to Wises Creek
We went on another lengthy hike today, and Cy and I ended up in a huge argument. I believe the fatigue is affecting us both. In his frustration, Cy even broke the loop on his hiking sticks. It might seem minor, but these loops are essential for resting your hands while hiking, and without them, you can't use the hiking sticks to your advantage. Our goal was to reach Wymar Ferry because the map promised a caravan park with showers, and we were so looking forward to getting cl

Day 20: Kennedy Reserve to Bungil Koetong Creek - 17km
Our day always starts with packing up. Some sites make that easy, others really don’t. Sand and mud are the worst, both get into every zipper and crevice, and no matter how careful we are, everything ends up gritty. I am finding myself getting more irritated with the sand lately, though maybe that is just because we only have a few days of hiking left before we reach Hume Dam. Most of the day was spent walking on tarmac, which is brutal on the feet. The soles of our shoes kep

Day 19: Cow paddock to Kennedy Reserve
Today was tough—a scorching 18 kilometers that left me wiped out physically and mentally. Every step felt like a chore, and boredom set in hard. Thankfully, Cy kept me going, helping to lighten the mood when it all felt a bit much. We finally made it to Kennedy camp site, where we met David and Heather—a nice pair with a caravan. After a quick chat, we decided to move closer to the Murray River for some privacy and shade. Instead, we found ourselves at a spot full of rocks, s
